FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO I NEED TO BEING TO MY NEW PATIENT CHIROPRACTIC APPOINTMENT?
You will be asked to fill out a new patient Chiropractic form, including questions about your health. This is to make sure we have all the information need to treat you. Please make sure you bring a list of any medication and any recent surgeries. It is beneficial to wear flexible clothing; however, if needed a gown will be provided for you.
WHAT DOES A CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Each treatment is tailored to the individual's needs. The Chiropractor will use a range of treatments as needed. This includes manipulation, soft tissue work, dry needling, stretches, taping and exercise advice. If you have any worries about the treatment please don’t hesitate to ask the Chiropractor and she will be able to discuss options with you.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Every person and condition is different so treatment amounts and frequency can vary. Short-term problems usually resolve quite quickly in 4-6 treatments. However, long-term problems may take longer. Furthermore, maintenance appointments a couple of times a year can also greatly help in managing recurrent or long-term problems, such as joint arthritis.
Our Chiropractor will advise you at the new patient appointment on approximately how many treatments you will need. At Bedminster Chiropractic, we pride ourselves on offering high quality, ethical health care. We have a strong emphasis on equipping the patient with the tools needed to help optimise their recovery. Therefore, our chiropractors will give you home stretches and advice which will help to reduce your recovery time.
WHAT TRAINING DO YOU NEED TO DO TO BECOME A CHIROPRACTOR?
All Chiropractors have successfully completed a 5 year Masters in Chiropractic Course. To practise as a Chiropractor, the Chiropractor must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), which sets out standards of practice to protect you, the patient.
Our Chiropractors are registered with the GCC. They are also members of the British Chiropractic Association.
I DON’T KNOW IF CHIROPRACTIC CAN HELP MY PROBLEM.
Don’t worry, the list of areas treated is not exhaustive and we believe treatment can be beneficial for most people. We are happy to chat to you over the phone about your problem. Alternatively, you are welcome to come in for a free 15 minute chat with our Chiropractor, with no obligation to proceed. We will advise you of other therapies that may help if we feel Chiropractic cannot.
DO I NEED TO TELL MY GP I AM COMING?
No, you do not need to tell your GP you are having treatment from a Chiropractor. However, if we feel the GP needs to know about your condition, or we need further help with treating your problem, we will contact your GP or suggest you go and see them. We will always discuss this with you first.
